The company Takumitak, with Chinese roots and now based in Ontario, California, has specialised for many years in the production of knives with robust Full-Tang blades of all possible shapes and sizes. Their goal is to offer the widest possible range of knives to meet the requirements of every demanding customer.
This knife boasts a robust 4.9 mm thick blade made of high-carbon tool steel D2, additionally coated with a layer of titanium nitride, which protects it against dirt, corrosion, and scratches. The package also includes a reliable Kydex sheath with a belt clip, which is also compatible with the MOLLE system.
Full-tang construction
The Full-tang designation means that the blade and the inner part of the handle are made from a single piece, which significantly increases the overall durability of the knife and eliminates the risk of it breaking.
Blade made of high-carbon steel D2
This tool steel called D2 is designed for the toughest use. Thanks to its high carbon content and other additives, it reaches a hardness of HRC 61–62, which is one of the highest achievable values. Such a knife retains its sharpness for a very long time. In addition, it has a significant percentage of chromium, so it can withstand some rust as well.
Composition: 84.2% iron, 1.5% carbon, 12% chromium, 0.35% manganese, 0.8% molybdenum, 0.9% vanadium and 0.25% silicon
G10 composite handle scales
G10, also called garolite, is a laminate made by pressing glass fibres soaked in epoxy resin, which is resistant to mechanical damage and does not deform under the influence of moisture or temperature changes. At the same time, it is highly grippy, so it does not slip even in a sweaty hand.
