The shotgun named Umarex T4E TS 68 Gen2 is made for home defense. Thanks to its high muzzle energy, compact design and quick‑activation system, it reliably deters any potential aggressor from malicious intent.
Ammunition and firing mode
As ammunition you can use any RAM projectiles in .68 caliber, such as rubber, pepper or marking projectiles. To load the shells into the barrels, simply press the button on the underside of the fore-end, which unlocks both chambers and swings them upwards. Although the shotgun only has a capacity of 2 rounds, a huge advantage is the possibility of using projectiles of any length and of all possible shapes.
The shotgun can fire from each barrel individually or from both barrels at the same time (albeit with lower muzzle energy). A simple lever above the grip is used to switch between the barrels.
Power and quick‑activation system
The shotgun is powered by one 12 g CO2 cartridge, which is inserted into the grip after unscrewing the valve. In this ready state you can store the weapon indefinitely without risking degradation of the sealing O‑rings. To activate it, simply strike the valve with the palm of your hand, piercing the cartridge and making the shotgun ready to fire. After activation, a so‑called indicator pops up above the grip, showing that the shotgun is pressurised and ready to shoot. The manufacturer states that one 12 g cartridge is sufficient for 10 shots.
Construction
All internal components and the double barrel are made of metal. The outer body is then made of durable polymer, which protects the important parts and at the same time reduces the weight. However, due to the metal barrel housing it is still a relatively heavy piece, weighing 1700 grams. On the underside of the fore-end there is a short plastic Picatinny rail, ideal for mounting a laser sight or a tactical flashlight.
To ensure the fastest possible readiness to fire, the shotgun does not include any manual safety that could be more of an obstacle in a self‑defence situation. Instead, the safety is integrated directly into the trigger, preventing only an accidental discharge caused by unintentionally snagging the side of the trigger.
T4E 2nd Generation
Just like the other Umarex T4E 2nd Generation products, this model has received a new quick‑activation CO2 valve. It no longer requires any tools to depressurise the weapon. Other innovations include the top Picatinny rail, so you can now equip the shotgun with any red dot sight. The last change is a new grip texture for a more secure hold.
Maintenance
Since the weapon is powered by CO2 cartridges, the rubber seals can gradually become brittle and crack due to the freezing carbon dioxide. You can prevent this by occasionally applying silicone oil 1) in spray form, simply spraying the internal mechanism, 2) applying a few drops of silicone oil to the neck of the inserted cartridge, or 3) using an oil cartridge (the easiest option). At the same time, we do not recommend leaving an activated cartridge in the weapon longer than necessary. If you know you will not be shooting for some time, release the pressure by loosening the valve.
