With its impressive appearance and the striking sound when being charged, it clearly shows it really means business. Users will especially appreciate the intuitive controls. The construction consists of an alloy frame covered with durable polymer. The robust all-metal chamber and massive muzzle brake increase the weight of the Home Defense Extreme shotgun to more than 3 kg. Nevertheless, the gun is excellently balanced and has outstanding ergonomics.
Thanks to the quick-piercing system, the gun can be kept in standby mode for months. To pierce the two 12 g CO₂ cartridges, a light strike to the buttstock is enough. The indicator shows you that you are ready to fire. Thanks to this system, you can keep the cartridges inserted in the gun for a long time without damaging the seals or the valve. Umarex has thus brilliantly solved the issue of ready-to-use shotgun self-defence and eliminated the risk of possible fatal weapon failure in a critical situation.
The TX 68 shotgun uses cal .68 (17.3 mm) ammunition. The muzzle energy reaches the very limit of 16 J, which is a really powerful shot. Thanks to the 366 mm long barrel it achieves surprising accuracy. Although it is not primarily intended for target shooting, it will perform excellently in dynamic shooting at cans and similar targets. The internal tubular magazine holds 16 rounds, which is a really decent ammunition reserve. With two cartridges you can effectively fire approx. 20 shots.
The trigger mechanism works in Single Action mode. The trigger is excellent. The manual safety is located on the frame and is easy to operate.
The open sights consist of a fixed fiber optic front sight and a height- and windage-adjustable rear sight. Thanks to the long 22 mm Weaver rail, it is no problem to mount, for example, a red dot sight on the shotgun. Another rail is located on the fore-end and is suitable, for example, for mounting a laser or a torch.
Umarex T4E guns (Training for Engagement) are an effective means of self-defence. This is evidenced by the fact that many armed forces and professionals use them for training. You do not have to be a professional and you will enjoy plenty of fun with them when shooting at targets or cans.
