With its impressive appearance and the striking sound it makes when being charged, it clearly shows it is a very serious tool. Users will especially appreciate the intuitive controls. The construction consists of an alloy frame covered with durable polymer. The robust all-metal cartridge chamber and massive muzzle brake increase the weight of the Home Defense Extreme shotgun to more than 3 kg. Despite this, the gun is superbly balanced and offers excellent ergonomics.
The HDX 68 shotgun uses cal .68 (17.3 mm) ammunition and with an 88g CO₂ cartridge it achieves a muzzle energy of up to 40 J. With one 88g cartridge you can fire approx. 30 full‑power shots (2 magazines). With the help of a suitable adapter you can also use two 12g CO₂ cartridges. In this case, however, the muzzle energy will be around 24 J and you will fire approx. 12 full‑power shots (less than one magazine).
Thanks to the 366 mm long barrel, this model delivers surprising accuracy. Although it is not primarily intended for target shooting, it performs excellently in dynamic shooting at cans, etc. The internal tubular magazine holds 16 rounds, which is a very decent ammunition reserve.
The trigger mechanism operates in Single Action mode. The trigger is excellent. The manual safety is located on the frame and is easy to operate.
The open sights consist of a fixed fiber-optic front sight and a height- and windage-adjustable rear sight. Thanks to the long 22mm Weaver rail, mounting, for example, a red dot sight on the shotgun is no problem. Another rail is located on the forend and is suitable, for example, for mounting a laser or a flashlight.
Umarex T4E (Training for Engagement) guns are an effective means of self-defence. This is evidenced by the fact that many armed forces and professionals use them for training. You don’t have to be a professional and you will enjoy plenty of fun with them when shooting at targets or cans.
