Air Rifle Taipan SLASH Tactical 420mm 4.5mm

Subtle design, semi-automatic firing mode, extreme performance. These are just some of the many advantages of the brand-new PCP air rifle from the workshops of the renowned company Taipan Airguns.

As is clear at first glance, this bullpup is not just another continuation of the Veteran line. It is a completely new air rifle and it does not take over a single component from previous models. That’s exactly why the designers gave it the simple and apt name Taipan SLASH.

Semi-Auto

The key feature of the new Taipan is clearly the semi-automatic firing mode. After many years of research, the designers managed to develop and patent a revolutionary valve that is characterized by exceptionally fast opening and closing. The result is high power with minimal air consumption – approximately 7–9 cm3/J. The unprecedented performance in semi-automatic mode also allows the use of Slug ammunition.

PCP system

SLASH is characterized mainly by the unusual placement of the air cylinder in the stock area. The carbon bottle has a capacity of 300cc, which may seem small to some, but thanks to the minimal air consumption and the maximum pressure of up to 300 bar it provides a really high shot count per fill. The current pressure in the cylinder is shown on a clear manometer.

Accuracy and magazine

Taipan air rifles are renowned for their unsurpassed accuracy – and this is no exception. This is mainly thanks to the barrel from the famous Czech company CZUB, which has specialized in the production of firearms since 1936.

Taipan SLASH offers the option to change calibre. This process requires replacing several internal components, and thus considerable experience with PCP systems. Always follow the manual or an instructional video.

Accuracy is also aided by the air rifle’s own construction. Thanks to the rigid metal frame and minimal tolerances of the individual components, any vibrations and flex during shooting have been suppressed.

The last element ensuring high accuracy is the new magazine – it is not preloaded by a spring, so there is no risk of pellet deformation or slug deformation during cycling. A major advantage compared to other semi-auto air rifles is the ability to easily remove the magazine by sliding the lever above the grip. In addition, it can hold projectiles up to 13 mm long.

Design

Among other specific features of the new Taipan is its low-profile design, with an overall height of only 17 cm without a mounted scope. The barrel is shrouded along its entire length and at its end there is a highly effective integrated sound moderator. To install an external moderator, an additional adapter must be purchased.

The fore-end features several rows of M-LOK slots for mounting any accessories, and a standard Picatinny rail with 20 MOA cant is used for mounting the scope, making it easier to set up optics for long-range shooting. As is currently the trend, it also has a standardized AR-15 type grip, so you can easily replace it.

For comfortable shooting even in low temperatures, the SLASH is equipped with an ergonomically shaped polymer cheekpiece with rubberized surface finish, and the buttpad is height-adjustable.

The air rifle includes two types of safety – a classic manual safety located in front of the trigger, and a second automatic safety that prevents firing when the magazine is removed.

Note 1: The package includes 2 magazines. One is intended for standard pellets (magazine with an opening on the rear face) and the other is intended for slug-type ammunition (without opening). They differ in the diameter of the cartridge chamber. Always use the appropriate magazine. The exception is calibre 4.5 mm, where the chamber diameter is identical for both pellets and slugs. This calibre therefore includes 2 universal magazines for both types of ammunition. Attention, to ensure proper functioning, each round must be carefully pushed past the plastic ball inside the magazine.

Note 2: Every semi-automatic PCP air rifle available on the current market is continuously in a fully cocked (charged) state, which can be dangerous during handling of the gun and at the same time internal components may wear out more quickly. The charging lever on the right side serves both for the initial charging (cocking) of the air rifle and for subsequent unloading (deactivation). Simply pull the lever back and hold it firmly, pull the trigger and carefully move the lever back to its original position. This will unload the gun.

Note 3: We strongly advise against any interference with the settings of the air rifle, especially the trigger mechanism and the pressure regulator. Both systems are factory-set to ensure correct functioning of the semi-automatic mode. Incorrect adjustment of either the trigger or the regulator may cause the air rifle to jam.

Note 4: The air rifle is factory-set to such a muzzle energy level that, with the test ammunition used (listed in the parameter table), it achieves the best accuracy and optimal air consumption. The values in the table below can be achieved by simply readjusting the pressure regulator. To increase/decrease the possible range, you can purchase the so-called Power Kit. It consists of 4 parts that must be replaced in the air rifle. The maximum recommended regulator pressure is 170 bar. To reach a higher pressure, up to 220 bar, you can purchase the tuning regulator.
