Measuring muzzle velocity

If you take shooting seriously, knowing the muzzle velocity and kinetic energy of the projectile is absolutely essential. You therefore need a reliable tool that can measure these values with maximum accuracy. One such tool is the top-of-the-line ballistic chronograph Air Chrony, which is the official measuring device of the world shooting organization WHFTO. It will reliably measure a rifle as well as smaller calibres such as airsoft guns, bows, crossbows and rimfire rifles. Another option is a radar. Muzzle velocity and energy

Muzzle velocity is a conventional parameter used in ballistics. It is defined as the velocity that a projectile would have at the moment it leaves the muzzle, if it were not accelerated by transitional ballistics effects.

Knowing muzzle velocity is a must for sport shooters

To hit the target repeatedly, the projectile must leave the barrel each time at the same, optimal velocity. Based on the measured data, you can optimise your weapon setup. This is essential especially for extremely accurate PCP air rifles and sniper rifles.
