The German company Umarex has in recent years been focusing on air rifles that surprise with high functionality, rich accessories, and all this at an unbeatable purchase price. A perfect example is this PCP air rifle called Notos Carbine Set, which includes everything you find with much more expensive competitors. Thanks to the supplied riflescope and bipod, you only need to buy pellets and something to fill the air rifle – a hand pump, air tank or compressor.

A key advantage is the integrated pressure regulator, which ensures consistent muzzle velocity and thus stable accuracy. Although the air cylinder with a volume of 66cc is not the largest, it can be filled up to 250 bar (3625 psi). In combination with the regulator and a not overly high muzzle energy, you get a relatively high shot count per fill. The current pressure is shown by a simple manometer located at the front of the cylinder. Nearby is also the filling port, into which the supplied threadless 1/8 BSP filling probe is inserted (it is necessary to purchase a quick coupler).
The 300mm barrel is rifled and designed for shooting standard lead pellets. These are inserted either into the pre-tensioned rotary magazine, or you can use the supplied single-shot adapter. A classic side lever firmly mounted on the left side is used for cocking. The trigger is fully adjustable and the manual safety is located directly in the trigger blade.
At the muzzle there is an integrated K-Baffle type sound moderator with a total of 3 baffles, which effectively reduces the report when firing. A top Picatinny rail is used for mounting a riflescope or other accessories. The action of the air rifle, as well as all important components, are made of metal. The stock and grip section are made of durable polymer.
The air rifle also comes with a 3-9x40 variable magnification riflescope with illuminated reticle in red and green and adjustable parallax. It is further supplied with a detachable bipod with telescopic legs offering a total of 3 selectable positions (0°, 90°, 180°). The stock is also length adjustable, resulting in an overall air rifle length of 800–865mm.

Rating for the 7.5 joule variant:
Top price performance
The rifle (pistol) has a super price/performance ratio!
After the shooting it can succeed – hung up on 10 meters,
with inexpensive ammunition which is also available here (Norma Golden Trophy FT
Diabolos 4.5 mm),
To shoot 10-shot bolt circles the size of a 1-cent piece.
The rifle is very light, the tank is sufficient for approx. 80 – 90 shots,
the scope is better than expected.
It has a rifled barrel, the volume is limited and the trigger is adjustable.
My conclusion: A lot of fun for 300 euros

The Umarex Notos Kit was my first PCP device in many years. For getting “back
into” the world of airguns it’s just perfect. It comes with everything you
need and you really only need your tin of pellets and a manual hand pump to get
started. It’s extremely quiet and lets you plink in the garden without
attracting attention from the neighbours. The accuracy with .22 calibre JSB
Hades is absolutely impressive and once the gun is sighted in, it’s just pure
fun. There are countless upgrades you can 3D print yourself if you have a 3D
printer. I immediately printed and built my own magazines, as well as a riser
rail, because otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to mount my Pard LV008 LRF
on the Notos since the top Picatinny rail would have gone straight into the
magazine. With 3D printing that’s no problem at all. I also printed an M-Lok
fore-end that fits perfectly over the air cylinder. All in all, a great complete
package with only small quirks.
