Air Rifle Taipan SLASH Tactical 550mm 5.5mm

Subtle design, semi-automatic firing mode, extreme performance. These are just some of the many advantages of the brand new PCP air rifle from the workshops of the renowned company Taipan Airguns.

As is clear at first glance, this bullpup is not just another continuation of the Veteran line. It is a completely new air rifle and it does not take a single component from previous models. That is why the designers gave it a brief and fitting name Taipan SLASH.

Semi-Auto

The key feature of the new Taipan is clearly the semi-automatic firing mode. After many years of research the designers managed to develop and patent a revolutionary valve, which is characterized by an exceptionally fast opening and closing speed. The result is high power with minimal air consumption – approximately 7–9 cm3/J. The unprecedented performance in semi-automatic mode also allows the use of Slug ammunition.

PCP system

SLASH is characterized above all by the unusual placement of the air cylinder in the stock area. The carbon bottle has a capacity of 300cc, which may seem small to some, but thanks to the minimal air consumption and the maximum pressure of up to 300 bar it provides a really high number of shots per fill. The current pressure in the cylinder is shown on a clear manometer.

Accuracy and magazine

Taipan air rifles are renowned for their unbeatable accuracy – and this one is no exception. This is mainly thanks to the barrel from the famous Czech company CZUB, which has specialized in the production of firearms since 1936.

Taipan SLASH offers the possibility to change the calibre. This process requires replacement of several internal components and therefore considerable experience with PCP systems. Always follow the manual or an instructional video.

Accuracy is also enhanced by the very construction of the air rifle. Thanks to the rigid metal frame and minimal tolerances of individual components, any vibrations and flex during shooting have been suppressed.

The last feature contributing to high accuracy is the new magazine – it is not preloaded by a spring and therefore there is no risk of pellet deformation or slug deformation during cycling. A major advantage compared to other semi-auto air rifles is the possibility to simply remove the magazine by pulling back the lever above the pistol grip. In addition, it accommodates projectiles up to 13 mm long.

Design

Among the other specific features of the new Taipan is its low-profile design, with an overall height of only 17 cm without a mounted scope. The barrel is sleeved along its entire length and at its end there is a highly effective integrated sound moderator. To install an external moderator, you will need to purchase an adapter.

The fore-end features several rows of M-LOK slots for mounting any accessories, and a standard Picatinny rail canted by 20 MOA is used for scope mounting, which makes it easier to set up the optics for long-range shooting. As is currently fashionable, there is also a standardized AR-15 type grip, so you can easily replace it.

For comfortable shooting even at low temperatures, the SLASH is equipped with an ergonomically shaped polymer cheekpiece with a rubberized surface finish and the butt pad is height adjustable.

The air rifle includes two types of safety – a classic manual safety located in front of the trigger, and a second automatic safety that prevents firing when the magazine is removed.

Note 1: The package includes 2 magazines. One is intended for standard pellets (magazine with a hole on the rear surface) and the other is designed for slug-type ammunition (without a hole). They differ in the diameter of the cartridge chamber. Always use the appropriate magazine. Be careful, to ensure correct operation it is necessary to carefully push each round past the plastic ball inside the magazine.

Note 2: Every semi-automatic PCP air rifle currently available on the market is constantly in a fully cocked (charged) state, which can be dangerous when handling the rifle and at the same time the internal components may wear out more quickly. The charging handle on the right side is used both for the initial charging (cocking) of the air rifle and for subsequent de-cocking (deactivation). Simply pull the handle back and hold it firmly, press the trigger and carefully move the handle back to its original position. This unloads the rifle.

Note 3: We strongly advise against any interference with the air rifle’s settings, especially the trigger mechanism and pressure regulator. Both systems are factory-set to ensure proper operation of the semi-automatic mode. Improper adjustment of the trigger and regulator may cause the air rifle to jam.

Note 4: The air rifle is factory-set to such a muzzle energy that with the test ammunition used (listed in the parameter table) it achieves the best accuracy and optimal air consumption. The values in the table below can be achieved simply by readjusting the pressure regulator. To increase / decrease the possible range, you can purchase the so-called Power Kit. It consists of 4 components that must be replaced in the air rifle. The maximum recommended regulator pressure is 170 bar. To achieve a higher pressure, up to 220 bar, you can buy a tuning regulator.
