The pistol is designed to shoot projectiles in .50 calibre. You can use rubber, pepper and marking balls. Thanks to this, the HDPX 50 Gen2 is a versatile choice for training, recreational shooting and defensive use.
The propulsion is provided by a 12g CO₂ cartridge, which is inserted into the grip. As with most RAM guns, you will also find here the proven Quick-Piercing system. The cartridge can remain inserted in the pistol unpierced and is only activated by a strike to the bottom of the grip. Thanks to this, the seals are not unnecessarily under pressure and you can keep the pistol ready for quick use.
A major advantage compared to other RAM pistols is the removable metal magazine with a capacity of 8 shots. The magazine release is a metal catch on the left side of the grip (designed for right-handed users). As with other RAM pistols, this model is not compatible with non-round projectiles – there is a risk of jamming in the magazine and blocking the gun.
NOTE: For proper magazine function, we recommend applying silicone oil to the inner walls of the magazine well, or directly to the rubber projectiles. When using dry ammunition in an unlubricated magazine, there is a risk of the gun jamming.
Another significant advantage is the OR – Optics Ready design. The slide of the pistol is prepared for mounting a red dot sight with a C-More footprint, which makes aiming easier and improves accuracy at shorter distances. If you do not use a red dot, you still have standard fixed sights with fibre-optic inserts available.
NOTE: The slide (and thus the threads for attaching the red dot) is made of polymer, therefore when mounting the sight it is necessary to tighten the screws carefully and not use excessive force to avoid damaging the threads.
The outer body is made of durable polymer, which allows the pistol to maintain a low weight of only 680 grams. The shaped grip with aggressive texturing sits well in the hand and provides a secure hold even during fast handling. For optional installation of a laser or a tactical light, there is a short Picatinny rail with 3 slots under the barrel.
The trigger mechanism operates in Double Action Only mode. The pistol is thus ready to fire immediately after inserting the magazine and activating the CO₂ cartridge, without the need to cock a hammer or rack the slide (the slide is fixed). The safety is located directly in the trigger blade, which in no way affects the draw speed of the gun in a critical situation.
Since the gun is powered by CO2 cartridges, the rubber seals can, over time, become brittle and crack due to the freezing carbon dioxide. You can prevent this by occasionally applying silicone oil 1) in spray form, simply spraying the internals, 2) applying a few drops of silicone oil onto the neck of the inserted cartridge, 3) using an oil cartridge (the easiest option). At the same time, we do not recommend leaving an activated cartridge in the gun longer than necessary. If you know you will not be shooting for a while, release the pressure by loosening the valve.
