Hawke AIRMAX 30 WA SF has a monolithic aluminium construction filled with nitrogen. The gas inside the system ensures that the objective and eyepiece lenses do not fog up. The riflescope is also waterproof and shockproof. The eyepiece has Fast Focus, and the lenses are equipped with a sixteen-layer MC coating. The tube diameter is 1.2", i.e. 30 mm.
Inside the AIRMAX models there is an etched reticle AMX IR. It is illuminated with red light, with six adjustable brightness levels and off positions in between. Horizontal and vertical adjustment is in milliradian units – one click equals 1/10 MRAD. The turrets are capped, so the set adjustment cannot change without the user’s knowledge.
Parallax adjustment is located on the left side of the scope and is operated via a side turret; its range is from 10 yds (9.14 m) to infinity. To maintain the preset values, the system needs to be relatively stiff. For this reason the manufacturer includes a large side wheel for parallax, which you slide onto the turret to make handling easier. In the same place you will also find the illumination control.
The variable magnification in the range of 6–24x is adjusted by a rubberised ring with ribs behind the eyepiece. The riflescope belongs to the second focal plane (SFP).
The package includes a large amount of small accessories. The eyepiece and objective are covered by flip-up metal caps, which can be removed using special semicircular tools. Among other accessories you will also find a hex key, a cloth for cleaning the glass, and a spare CR2032 battery for the AMX reticle illumination.
