Zippo

Zippo is a legendary American brand of gasoline lighters with a typical rectangular shape and a hinged lid. However, few people know that Mr. Blaisdell came up with the original Zippo as early as 1932. Back then, a single Zippo lighter cost just $1.95. Today's prices are naturally much higher.

Yet all Zippo lighters ever sold boast a lifetime warranty because Zippo lives by its motto: "It works or we fix it free." You won't see that kind of guarantee with many brands.

ADVERTISING AS ADDED VALUE

These legendary lighters have been used as promotional items since the mid-1930s. In contrast to the classic lighters of the time, they had an ideal profile that could be easily imprinted or otherwise shaped. Nowadays, you often see Zippos with the logos of companies such as Harley Davidson or Jack Daniels. However, they can also be enhanced in other ways, such as with engravings or drawings. One of the rarest and most valuable collector's items are lighters from the first commercial edition of 500 lighters from the Kendall Refining Company.
