As is clear at first glance, this bullpup is not just another continuation of the Veteran line. It is a completely new air rifle and does not take over a single part from previous models. That is why the designers gave it a simple and apt name Taipan SLASH.
The key feature of the new Taipan is clearly the semi-automatic firing mode. After many years of research, the designers managed to develop and patent a revolutionary valve that is characterized by exceptional opening and closing speed. The result is high power with minimal air consumption – approximately 7–9 cm3/J. The unprecedented performance in semi-automatic mode also allows the use of Slug type ammunition.
SLASH is characterized above all by the unusual placement of the air cylinder in the stock area. The carbon bottle has a capacity of 300cc, which may seem low to some, but thanks to the minimal air consumption and maximum pressure of up to 300 bar it will provide a really high number of shots per fill. The current pressure in the cylinder is shown on a clear pressure gauge.
Taipan air rifles are renowned for their unrivalled accuracy – and this is no exception. This is mainly due to the barrel from the famous Czech company CZUB, which has specialized in the production of firearms since 1936.
Taipan SLASH offers the option to change calibre. This process requires replacement of several internal components and therefore considerable experience with PCP systems. Always follow the manual or an instructional video.
Accuracy is also aided by the very construction of the air rifle. Thanks to the rigid metal frame and minimal tolerances of individual components, any vibrations and flexing during shooting have been suppressed.
The last feature ensuring high accuracy is the new magazine – it is not pre-tensioned by a spring and therefore there is no risk of pellet deformation or slugs being deformed during cycling. A major advantage compared to other semi-auto air rifles is the possibility of easily removing the magazine after moving the lever above the grip. In addition, it accommodates projectiles up to 13 mm long.
Another specific feature of the new Taipan is its low-profile design, with an overall height of only 17 cm without a mounted riflescope. The barrel is shrouded along its entire length and at its end there is a highly effective integrated sound moderator. An adapter must be purchased for the installation of an external moderator.
The fore-end features several rows of M-LOK slots for mounting any accessories, and a standard Picatinny rail canted by 20 MOA is used for scope mounting, which makes it easier to set up the optics for long-range shooting. As is currently in fashion, there is also a standardized AR-15 type grip, so you can easily replace it.
For comfortable shooting even at low temperatures, SLASH is fitted with an ergonomically shaped polymer cheek piece with rubberized surface finish and the buttpad is height adjustable.
The air rifle has two types of safety – a classic manual safety located in front of the trigger, and a second automatic safety that prevents firing when the magazine is removed.
Note 1: The package includes 2 magazines. One is designed for standard pellets (magazine with an opening on the rear face) and the other is intended for slug-type ammunition (without opening). They differ in the diameter of the ammo chamber. Always use the appropriate magazine. The only exception is calibre 4.5 mm, where the chamber diameter is identical for both pellets and slugs. This calibre therefore includes 2 universal magazines for both types of ammunition. Attention, to ensure proper function, every round must be carefully pushed in past the plastic ball inside the magazine.
Note 2: Every semi-automatic PCP air rifle currently available on the market is continuously in a fully cocked (loaded) state, which can be dangerous when handling the gun and can also cause faster wear of internal components. The charging handle on the right side is used both for the initial loading (cocking) of the air rifle and for subsequent unloading (deactivation). Simply pull the handle back and hold it firmly, pull the trigger and carefully move the handle back to its original position. This unloads the gun.
Note 3: We strongly advise against making any adjustments to the air rifle, especially to the trigger mechanism and pressure regulator. Both systems are factory-set to ensure correct operation in semi-automatic mode. Incorrect adjustment of the trigger or regulator can cause the air rifle to jam.
Note 4: The air rifle is factory set to such a muzzle energy level that, with the test ammunition used (listed in the parameter table), it achieves the best accuracy and optimal air consumption. The values in the table below can be achieved simply by readjusting the pressure regulator. To increase / decrease the possible range, you can purchase the so-called Power Kit. It consists of 4 parts which must be replaced in the air rifle. The maximum recommended regulator pressure is 170 bar. To achieve higher pressure, up to 220 bar, you can purchase the tuning regulator.
