Air Rifle Taipan SLASH 420mm 4.5mm

Subtle design, semi-automatic firing mode, extreme power. These are just some of the many advantages of the brand-new PCP air rifle from the workshops of the renowned company Taipan Airguns.

As is clear at first glance, this bullpup is not just another continuation of the Veteran line. It is a completely new air rifle and it does not take over a single component from previous models. That is exactly why the designers gave it the short and apt name Taipan SLASH.

Semi-Auto

The key element of the new Taipan is clearly the semi-automatic firing mode. After many years of research, the designers managed to develop and patent a revolutionary valve that is characterized by an exceptionally fast opening and closing speed. The result is high power with minimal air consumption – approximately 7–9 cm3/J. The unprecedented performance in semi-automatic mode also allows the use of Slug type ammunition.

PCP system

SLASH is characterized above all by the unusual placement of the air cylinder in the stock area. The carbon bottle has a capacity of 300cc, which may seem small to some, but thanks to the minimal air consumption and a maximum pressure of up to 300 bar it provides a really high number of shots per fill. The current pressure in the cylinder is shown on a clear manometer.

Accuracy and magazine

Taipan air rifles are renowned for their unbeatable accuracy – and it is no different here. This is mainly thanks to the barrel from the famous Czech company CZUB, which has specialized in the production of firearms since 1936.

Taipan SLASH offers the option to change the calibre. This process requires replacing several internal components and therefore considerable experience with PCP systems. Always follow the manual or an instructional video.

The very design of the air rifle also contributes to its accuracy. Thanks to the rigid metal frame and minimal tolerances of individual components, any vibrations and flexing during shooting have been eliminated.

The last feature ensuring high accuracy is the new magazine – it is not pre-tensioned by a spring and therefore there is no risk of pellet deformation or slugs during cycling. A great advantage compared to other semi-auto air rifles is the possibility to easily remove the magazine by sliding the lever above the grip. In addition, it accepts projectiles up to 13 mm long.

Design

Among other specific features of the new Taipan is its low-profile design, with an overall height of just 17 cm without a mounted riflescope. The barrel is shrouded along its entire length and at its end there is a highly effective integrated sound moderator. To install an external moderator, it is necessary to purchase an adapter.

The fore-end features several rows of M-LOK slots for mounting any accessories, and a classic Picatinny rail canted by 20 MOA is used for riflescope mounting, which makes it easier to set the optics for long-distance shooting. As is currently fashionable, there is also a standardized AR-15 type grip, so you can easily replace it.

For comfortable shooting even at low temperatures, the SLASH is equipped with an ergonomically shaped polymer cheekpiece with rubberized surface finish and the butt pad is height-adjustable.

The air rifle includes two types of safety – a classic manual safety located in front of the trigger, and a second automatic safety that prevents firing when the magazine is removed.

Note 1: The package includes 2 magazines. One is intended for standard pellets (magazine with a hole in the rear face) and the other is intended for slug type ammunition (without a hole). They differ in the diameter of the cartridge chamber. Always use the appropriate magazine. The only exception is calibre 4.5 mm, where the chamber diameter is identical for pellets and slugs. This calibre therefore includes 2 universal magazines for both types of ammunition. Attention: to ensure proper operation, each round must be carefully pushed past the plastic ball inside the magazine.

Note 2: Every semi-automatic PCP air rifle available on the current market is continuously in a fully cocked (loaded) state, which can be dangerous when handling the gun and may also cause faster wear of internal components. The charging handle on the right side is used both for the initial loading (cocking) of the air rifle and for subsequent unloading (deactivation). Simply pull the handle back and hold it firmly, pull the trigger and carefully move the handle back to its original position. This unloads the gun.

Note 3: We strongly recommend not interfering in any way with the settings of the air rifle, in particular the trigger mechanism and the pressure regulator. Both systems are factory-set to ensure correct operation in semi-automatic mode. Incorrect adjustment of the trigger or regulator may cause the air rifle to jam.

Note 4: The air rifle is factory-set to a muzzle energy at which, with the test ammunition used (listed in the parameter table), it achieves the best accuracy and optimal air consumption. The values in the table below can be achieved simply by readjusting the pressure regulator. To increase/decrease the possible range, you can purchase the so-called Power Kit. It consists of 4 components that must be replaced in the air rifle. The maximum recommended regulator pressure is 170 bar. To achieve a higher pressure, up to 220 bar, you can purchase a tuning regulator.
