The Gamo PT-85 is basically a Beretta Cougar lookalike in CO₂ form, the kind of pistol you’ve definitely seen in the hands of Tom Cruise, Bruce Willis, or Jason Statham in some ’90s–’00s action flick. That alone gives it instant cool points.
It’s noticeably lighter than the real steel version (around 760 g), yet still feels solid and well-balanced in the hand, unless you’ve got absolutely huge mitts, then the grip might feel a bit small.
Shipping was fast and the package was 100 % discreet: everything arrived in a plain brown carton, no “airgun” labels or anything to raise eyebrows with the courier.
In the box you get: the pistol, two extra 8-shot rotary magazines (extra 16 shots ready to go), Allen key, decent hard-plastic case.
CO₂ installation is tool-free but you have to be quick and firm when tightening the piercing screw, otherwise the cartridge gets pierced before it’s fully sealed and you lose a puff of gas. Annoying the first couple of times, but you get used to it.
Out of the box the trigger is heavy and crunchy (somewhat lighter if you use it single-action). It takes a hundred rounds or so for your finger to learn the pull. Until then, expect your groups to suffer a bit, but it’s still perfectly usable.
Noise level is on the louder side for a CO₂ pistol, but not ridiculous, still fine for backyard or even indoor garage shooting. At 10–15 meters it’s plenty accurate for plinking cans, spinners, or bottles.
All in all, great value for money if you want a realistic, good-looking, metal-slide CO₂ pistol that’s fun to shoot and won’t break the bank. Made me excited. Highly recommended for casual plinking.
