Replica Napoleon Pistol, France 1806

Replica of Napoleon’s pistol, France 1806 is a decorative replica of a French flintlock pistol from the Napoleonic period. It combines a wooden grip with metal parts and captures the characteristic shaping of military pistols from the early 19th century.

Replica design

Grip is made of wood and features an emperor’s emblem on its lower section. The metal barrel, lock mechanism, trigger guard and other fittings are complemented by brass-coloured decorative elements.

Moving mechanism simulates loading and firing. The hammer can be cocked and, when the trigger is pressed, the mechanism clicks; however, the replica is not intended for use with ammunition.

Historical original

French flintlock pistols were part of the armament of cavalry units during the Napoleonic period. During the early years of the Empire, the An IX and An XIII patterns were used alongside each other; the An XIII pistol began production in 1804, while the older An IX remained in service with French cavalry until 1815. These were muzzle-loading weapons intended for close combat alongside a sabre.
