Historical original
The Beretta Model 92 was introduced into production by the Italian company Beretta in 1975 as a semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9 mm Parabellum. Its design followed the earlier Beretta M1922 and M1951 pistols. The later 92FS variant was adopted by the United States Armed Forces in 1985 under the designation M9.
