LeMat Replica, USA 1855

LeMat is a decorative replica of a percussion revolver from the American Civil War period. The metal construction with a matte nickel finish is complemented by black plastic grip panels.

Replica design

Metal parts have a matte nickel-plated finish, while the grip panels are made of plastic.

The mechanism allows the replica to be cocked, the cylinder to rotate and to click when the trigger is pulled. It is a decorative version without the possibility of firing.

Historical original

The historical LeMat revolver was designed in New Orleans by the French physician Jean Alexandre LeMat; he received a patent for its design in 1856. The weapon had a nine-chamber revolver cylinder surrounding a central smoothbore barrel of larger calibre intended for shotgun ammunition. LeMat percussion revolvers were manufactured from 1856 to 1865 and were used by the armed forces of the Confederate States during the American Civil War.
