Now, however, the time has come for something more exclusive for absolute shooting competition fanatics – the uncompromising FX DRS Pro in a premium MDT stock and with a range of performance upgrades.
The key feature of the Pro model is unquestionably the CNC‑machined aluminium stock from Canadian manufacturer MDT, who specialises in stocks for competition rifles. In this case it is a modified ACC Elite stock, originally designed for the Remington 700 and Tikka T3X. It features an extended fore-end with an Arca‑Swiss rail and M‑LOK slots running along the entire length, a rear Premiere Gen 2 section with height- and length‑adjustable cheekpiece and a length‑adjustable buttpad.
The enlarged MDT Vertical Grip Elite offers adjustable grip angle to suit every shooter and above the grip there are adjustable metal thumb rests on both sides. The MDT competition stock is designed to achieve maximum accuracy by eliminating any vibrations and flex during the shot, which is further supported by the supplied brass shims – these are used to eliminate small tolerances in the construction. As the manufacturer says, no stock is 100% identical even with CNC production.
The package also includes self‑adhesive segments with a textured surface for the fore-end and finger‑rest areas outside the trigger.
Another upgrade compared to the standard DRS is the so‑called Slug Power Kit, a set of components consisting of a new probe and a heavy tungsten hammer, which ensures the valve stays open longer and allows a higher air flow into the barrel. With this hammer you can also shoot the heaviest slugs at full power.
The package also includes an angled gauge for installation on the side of the power plenum so you always have an overview of the current pressure both in the cylinder and at the regulator.
The DRS Pro model is also equipped with a redesigned 2‑stage trigger mechanism tailored for competition shooting, which requires the lowest possible trigger pull and a 100% distinct and crisp break when firing. This is exactly where the fully adjustable match‑grade trigger comes into its own.
The final feature that sets the DRS Pro apart from the DRS Classic is the extended Picatinny rail with a 30 MOA incline. This cant makes it easier to zero the scope for shooting at extreme distances and at the same time gives you more space for mounting larger optics. The rail can be removed to reveal the standard 11 mm rail.
All other components remain unchanged, such as the Superior Heavy Smooth Twist X barrel – the rifling is pressed in from the outside of the barrel. The result is an exceptionally smooth bore surface which minimises friction during the shot. The air cylinder running around the barrel also serves as a shroud, the so‑called shroud, which stiffens the entire air rifle and reduces oscillations during firing. The outer diameter of the shroud is 34 mm. For a potential installation of a sound moderator, the muzzle is equipped with a standard 1/2UNF thread.
The SHP power plenum protrudes from the bottom and resembles a standard magazine. The real magazine, however, is inserted as usual into the slot in the middle of the scope rail and accommodates projectiles up to 11.3 mm long (0.45"). The adjustment elements of the AMP MkII regulator and hammer spring have been moved inside the stock, which must be removed for adjustment after undoing a single screw. The sidelever is fixed on the right‑hand side, as is the lever‑type manual safety. On the left‑hand side there is a gauge indicating the current pressure in the cylinder.
The Pro MDT model is supplied in a robust plastic case with a precisely cut insert for the air rifle including a scope.
NOTE: With this air rifle it is important to monitor the remaining pressure in the cylinder. We recommend maintaining the pressure at approximately 150 bar or above. If the pressure drops below the set regulator value, the rifle may be fully depressurised.
