The solid shell and precisely centred steel core support a more stable ballistic trajectory at higher muzzle velocities.
The steel core, with a projectile weight of 4.15 g, transfers its kinetic energy primarily into breaking the shell upon impact. After impact, pepper powder containing the active ingredient PAVA is released.
When used in RAM launchers, the substance is released only after hitting the target. It irritates the mucous membranes, temporarily impairs vision and disrupts breathing.
