The PCP air rifle Zbroia Sapsan TAC-MC uses a compact bullpup design with the action and magazine positioned behind the trigger. It is built around a robust anodised aluminium chassis, a regulated PCP system with a high-capacity carbon fibre bottle and modular mounting interfaces for optics and other accessories.
Regulated PCP system
Compressed air is supplied by a carbon fibre bottle with a maximum fill pressure of 300 bar. The air system uses an externally adjustable regulator and a 30cc power plenum. Pressure readings can be monitored using two pressure gauges – one shows the pressure in the bottle and the other the pressure downstream of the regulator.
Filling takes place directly via a quick connector without the need for a filling probe. The Sapsan TAC-MC is manufactured in two basic configurations, which differ in barrel length and carbon fibre bottle capacity:
Barrel and reloading
The steel rifled barrel with 12 grooves is fitted with a shroud along its entire visible length. The muzzle features a 1/2 UNF thread for fitting an external moderator.
Due to the limited clearance between the barrel axis and the carbon fibre bottle, a moderator with a maximum diameter of 30 mm can be used. A larger-diameter moderator can only be used if its rear section near the thread is sufficiently tapered and does not encroach on the space occupied by the bottle.
The magazine is inserted into the rear of the action behind the trigger. A holder for one spare magazine is also integrated into the rear of the stock.
Bullpup design and ergonomics
Moving a substantial part of the action behind the trigger allows a long barrel to be retained within a compact bullpup design and also shifts the centre of gravity closer to the shooter.
The Sapsan TAC-MC uses an adjustable two-stage trigger. The manual safety is located immediately in front of the trigger. The pistol grip uses an AR-15 standard interface and can therefore be replaced with a compatible model.
The upper part of the stock consists of a fixed cheekpiece made from stitched synthetic leather. The butt pad is height-adjustable using a simple mechanism – simply pull it outwards slightly and then move it to the desired height.
Picatinny
For mounting a rifle scope, there is a top Picatinny rail. Two additional short Picatinny rails are located on either side of the barrel, allowing further accessories to be fitted.
Below the carbon fibre bottle is a short lower Picatinny rail, which can be used, for example, to mount a bipod.
