Aiming is via an illuminated dot which, unlike a laser, is not projected onto the target. You can see it only in the sight itself. They are mainly used on pistols and tactical rifles. They are divided into open and closed types. Open red dot sights offer a wider field of view and faster target acquisition. Closed red dot sights are suitable for larger calibres and firearms with stronger recoil.
The mounting of the red dot sight is designed for a 22 mm Weaver rail.
