PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

DNT Optics ThermNight TNC635R is a cutting-edge multispectral riflescope combining thermal imaging with digital day and night vision. Both imaging systems are complemented by an integrated laser rangefinder and ballistic calculator DNT Ballistic Engine. With a single device, the shooter can locate the target by its heat signature, identify it in detail via the digital image, measure the distance and then calculate the required ballistic correction.

The thermal channel operates independently of ambient light and enables rapid detection of game in the dark, in rugged terrain or against a complex background. The digital channel with a Sony STARVIS 2 sensor, on the other hand, provides a more detailed image of the surroundings and helps with precise target identification. You can quickly switch between the two channels using a dedicated button or view them simultaneously with the Picture-in-Picture function.

Functions and features

The basis of the thermal channel is a highly sensitive uncooled VOx microbolometer with a resolution of 640x512 px, 12 μm pixel pitch and thermal sensitivity NETD ≤18 mK. It can therefore distinguish even small temperature differences between the target and the surroundings. The 50 Hz refresh rate provides smooth imaging of moving game without image tearing.

The thermal lens with a focal length of 35 mm offers a base magnification of 1.5× and a total range up to 6×. Combined with a wide field of view of 12.52° × 10.02°, it allows you to quickly scan large areas while still providing sufficient magnification for more precise observation of distant targets.

The thermal image can be adjusted using palettes White Hot, Black Hot, Red Hot and Iron Hot. There are also image profiles Natural, Enhanced and Highlight, adjustable contrast and brightness levels, and the Hotspot Tracking function for tracking the hottest point. The user can thus choose a display that matches the current conditions, target distance and the nature of the observed environment.

The digital channel uses a highly sensitive Sony STARVIS 2 CMOS sensor with a resolution of 1920×1080 px and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. In combination with ED glass optics and advanced image processing, it delivers a clear and detailed image during the day and in very low ambient light. The digital image can be switched between the natural Natural mode and a mode with enhanced colours.

The digital day and night channel offers a base magnification of 5× and a total range of 5–20×. Magnification is controlled by a ring around the eyepiece, similar to a conventional optical riflescope. A removable lever enables rapid magnification changes even with gloves or in the dark.

The resulting image from both channels is displayed on a fine Micro-OLED display with a resolution of 1920×1080 px and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. The display thus preserves the high level of detail of the digital channel and at the same time enables smooth viewing of the thermal image. The 65 mm eye relief provides a more comfortable head position and sufficient distance of the eye from the scope even when used with more powerful calibres.

Thermal imaging and night vision simultaneously

The Picture-in-Picture function enables both image channels to be displayed simultaneously. The main image can be thermal imaging with the digital night vision in the auxiliary window, or their positions can be swapped with a single press. The thermal channel can thus be used for rapid detection of a heat signature and the digital image for more precise target identification, without having to go into the menu or change devices.

The position of the auxiliary window can be set to the left, centre or right. The reticle and the calculated ballistic point can also be displayed in the Picture-in-Picture window, so it is possible to aim accurately even while viewing both image channels at the same time.

The Thermal Zoom Lock function allows you to lock the magnification of the thermal channel. The shooter can then change the magnification of the digital image without simultaneously changing the scale of the thermal image in the main view or in the auxiliary window. The target thus remains easy to locate in thermal imaging even during detailed zooming of the digital channel.

Detachable IR illuminator

For using the digital channel in complete darkness, the scope is equipped with a detachable infrared illuminator with a wavelength of 850 nm. The intensity can be adjusted in several levels or set to automatic mode. The module can be replaced, if required, with an optional 940 nm variant that offers less conspicuous operation for night hunting.

When the illuminator is used at high power for an extended period, it automatically reduces the intensity to prevent overheating. After a longer period of continuous operation, it may switch off automatically. This protective function should be taken into account during long-term observation from a single position.

Laser rangefinder

The integrated laser rangefinder with a measuring range of 5–1100 m enables you to determine the target distance without using a separate device or changing your shooting position. The measured value is displayed directly in the field of view of the scope and can be immediately used by the ballistic calculator.

The rangefinder supports single, continuous and timed measurement. Single measurement is suitable for static targets, while continuous measurement updates the distance in real time as the target or shooter moves. In timed mode, measurements are taken for a preset period and then automatically stopped.

DNT Ballistic Engine

The rangefinder is linked to the integrated ballistic calculator DNT Ballistic Engine. After entering the required data about the rifle and ammunition, it calculates the correction based on the measured distance and shooting angle. The device is equipped with a three-axis gyroscope that helps account for the inclination and angle of the rifle.

The ballistic profile can include, for example, zeroing distance, scope height above the bore, muzzle velocity, calibre, bullet weight and length, ballistic coefficient, temperature and altitude. Profiles can be set directly in the scope or more conveniently in the DNT mobile app.

Two result display methods are available. In Holdover mode, the main reticle remains in its original position and a separate correction point is displayed in the image. In Dial-In mode, the main aiming point is electronically shifted according to the calculated correction. Repeated pressing of the button returns the reticle to the original zero.

Ballistic correction also works when the thermal and digital channels are displayed simultaneously. After correctly zeroing both imaging systems, the calculated aiming point is projected identically into the main image and the auxiliary window.

Reticles and zeroing

ThermNight offers 8 reticle types in 5 colours for both the digital and thermal channel. The selection includes reticles working in the first and second focal plane, so the shooter can adapt the display to the shooting style and magnification used.

The One-Shot Zero function makes zeroing of both imaging channels easier. After the shot, the image can be frozen and the reticle electronically shifted to the actual point of impact.

Video recording and RAV

The scope allows you to record videos with sound in a resolution of 1800×1080 px. Recordings are stored in the built-in 64 GB memory, so there is no need to purchase a memory card. The built-in microphone can be switched on or off as required.

In addition to standard recording, ThermNight also offers loop recording and the RAV – Recoil Activated Recording function. In automatic mode, the scope detects recoil and captures footage of the key moment around the shot.

Wi-Fi and DNT mobile app

Using the integrated Wi-Fi, the scope can be connected to the DNT mobile app for devices running Android and iOS. The app allows you to view the live image from the scope, manage saved recordings, set ballistic profiles and transfer them to the device.

AutoWake and intuitive controls

The AutoWake function uses an integrated sensor to detect whether the shooter is currently viewing the image through the eyepiece. When the user moves their head away, the device automatically switches to power saving mode. When returning to the shooting position, it wakes up again, which helps extend battery life while maintaining quick readiness for use.

The most important functions have their own physical buttons. The thermal and digital channels, rangefinder, recording, image modes and Picture-in-Picture can each be controlled separately. Magnification is adjusted with a ring around the eyepiece, so there is no need to navigate the on-screen menu during normal operation.

Durable and compact design

Despite combining two advanced imaging channels, a rangefinder, IR illuminator and ballistic calculator, the scope alone weighs just 724 g and measures 232 × 82 × 78 mm. The housing with protection rating IP67 is protected against dust, rain and short-term immersion in water.

Recoil resistance reaches 800 G and the manufacturer states compatibility up to calibre .50 BMG. The operating range of −20 to +50 °C enables use in winter frosts as well as in high summer temperatures.

The specified configuration includes two Picatinny rail mounts. The short mount PMS 0 MOA is suitable for standard installation, while the long mount PM20L 20 MOA provides a tilt that can be used for long-range shooting.

Power supply

The power source is a single replaceable Li-ion battery type 21700 (not included), which provides up to 5.5 hours of operation.

The scope can also be powered from an external 5 V source via a USB-C connector. For extended observation from a fixed position, you can use a suitable power bank and preserve the capacity of the internal battery. The 21700 battery and compatible charger must be purchased separately.
